Spanish School Pamplona Levels
Here at Enforex, our courses are organized into 6 different Spanish language course levels, then categorized from 1 to 6. This structure adheres to the guidelines of both the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the Instituto Cervantes. Enforex's 6 levels are also perfectly compatible with the U.S. university system; this means it is possible to receive credits at your home school for the Spanish language courses you complete in Pamplona.
We assess your level of written and spoken Spanish on the very first day with us in Pamplona submiting a test. According to the results, you will subsequently be placed into the corresponding course level. Each of Enforex Granada's Spanish language course levels - with the exception of level 6 (Proficiency) - is further divided into sub-levels which vary from lesser to greater linguistic knowledge. This assures your placement in the Spanish course level best suited to your experience with the Spanish language.
Level 1 ("A1"): Basic
This Spanish level is for those students starting a Spanish language course for the very first time. Among other fundamental skills, you will learn how to create important grammatical and communicative structures in Spanish, such as greeting others, talking about yourself, giving an opinion, verb conjugations in the present tense, describing yourself and others and talking about your likes and dislikes. A basic understanding of Spanish culture will similarly be understood.
Level 2 ("A2"): Elementary
This Spanish language course level focuses on students who have some prior knowledge of basic Spanish structures and vocabulary. You will increase your level of grammar and vocabulary and be able to express yourself in a range of communicative contexts. You will acquire new and useful communicative skills as well as increase your awareness of Spanish culture and society. Skills include: structure of comparisons, expression of opinions, differentiation between the verbs ser and estar, conjugation of verbs, narration in the past tense and utilization of commands.
Level 3 ("B1"): Intermediate
In the Pamplona school this level is planned for incoming students who already have a relative control of Spanish vocabulary as well as of some of the language's more complex grammatical structures. You will progress from expressing yourself at a basic and functional level to reaching a certain degree of fluency in the language along with a greater comprehension of the Spanish lifestyle. Improving your understanding of both linguistic and extra-linguistic structures, you will note an improvement in your capability to effectively communicate with Spanish-speakers.
Skills covered: reviewing the past and present tenses, expressing courtesy, using the conditional and future tenses, expressing wants and needs through the subjunctive, forming negative commands and expanding upon your ability to effectively express opinions.
Level 4 ("B2"): Advanced
Students having reached the advanced level are comfortable communicating in a social environment speaking with a certain degree of fluency. You will increase your ability to debate issues logically and express detailed opinions; to combine phrases and sentences in a cohesive manner; and to converse about more specific topics outside the realm of typical linguistic interchanges.
Skills covered: domination of the subjunctive in all its contexts and comparing it to the indicative, utilization of periphrases, debate and narration, expression of hypotheses in the past and present, construction of the passive voice, and in-depth expression of feelings, likes and dislikes.
Level 5 ("C1"): Superior
This Spanish language course level corresponds to new students who already have a firm understanding of the Spanish language and are able to communicate fluently. Students will learn to express their ideas on a more abstract level by perfecting grammar skills and dominating colloquial expressions. Your familiaridad with Spanish culture will reach a superior level.
Level 6 ("C2"): Proficiency
This ultimate course level corresponds to those students with a good grasp of the Spanish language and who aim to perfect all areas of linguistic proficiency in the process of becoming fully bilingual. Course content focuses on perfecting students' written and oral capabilities, simultaneously developing a a global perspective of Spanish culture. This aspect always in relation to their particular field of interest.
